Days 7 & 8: March 27-28 Print

I am presently standing waiting for the students to come out of St. Peter's Bascilica. We have already walked thru the colosseum, the Forum, and have bussed it to the Vatican. They will soon be walking thru the Vatican Museum, then the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish steps.

Yesterday was a great day in Venice. We did a lot of walking thru the city. As well as taking a boat ride down the Grand Canal. They spent a number of hours in San Marcos Piazza and then a little down time napping in the sun at one of the museums right on the water. Walked to see the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Later that evening, had dinner at an outdoor cafe, then took a late evening walk for about an hour. The one difficulty that we have faced is Nancy getting the 24 hour vomit bug starting on the first train ride sleeper (Munich to Venice). She was weak and drained by the time we got to Venice, yet she pushed thru a couple of hours to do the laundry for the students. Meanwhile I took them to San Marcos Piazza to shop and see the sights. I later put her in a hotel for the day (after I got the students situated). The hotel was gracious to our situation and really took care if her. Upon her arrival to Rome she rebounded beautifully. The bed rest did her well. We are now in Rome and you would never know that she was sick the day before.

Everyone else is doing fine in health and spirits. You should be proud parents seeing how well behaved they are and what a joy they are to travel with. I know they are feeling "worked out" at least in the legs and feet, but they haven't complained a bit.
