The Center for Global Leadership provides leadership training through character development of Upper School students at Veritas. Leadership studies is a series of courses designed for 7th through 12th graders taught by certified teachers and experts in their field.
Example modules are:
Self-Assessment Skills: Assessing yourself and others for maximizing workplace effectiveness
People Skills: Developing effective people skills for success
Mentoring Skills: Providing and receiving effective mentoring relationships
Communication Skills: Becoming a highly effective public and personal communicator
Team Skills: Developing key practices for building strong teams
Managing Skills: Developing key practices and skills for managing others
Each student is required to research, write, present and defend two theses: a Junior Thesis consisting of a 20-25 page paper, and a Senior Thesis consisting of a 30-35 page paper, a 10-minute presentation and 10-minute Question-and-Answer session before local graduate-level university professors.
The students will participate in numerous activities that will aid them as emerging leaders, including 80 hours of community service per year (9th-12th grades), internships, etiquette and potentially, studies abroad.
LTI Founder, Kevin Hinman, began his career with General Electric. He graduated from GE’s elite two-year management training program in Computer management. He also served as a Navy civilian producing 150 training courses for Navy pilots, communication officers, and SEAL teams. Kevin’s passion for training leaders has led him to five continents and trained thousands of leaders worldwide.
