House System

Every student at Veritas Collegiate Academy belongs to one of three Houses: Tyndale, Hus, and Gutenberg. Each House shares a common foundation of truth, wisdom, and discernment, while embodying its own unique expression of character and calling. House of Tyndale forms students as courageous heroes who bring truth to others, even at personal cost. House of Hus forms students as faithful nurturers who hold fast to conscience and integrity under trial. House of Gutenberg forms students as wise servants who steward knowledge for the good of others.

Through daily habits, shared core values, and a personal House Oath, students are shaped in character long before they ever receive an award. Veritas's academic, service, and leadership honors, including the George Washington Statesman Award, all flow out of the daily formation that takes place within the House System, ensuring that recognition is always rooted in genuine growth of character.

Student Government

Student Government at Veritas Collegiate Academy provides students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, represent the voice of their peers, and serve the broader school community. Student leaders work alongside faculty to plan events, foster school spirit, and cultivate a culture of respect and initiative among the student body.

By participating in Student Government, students learn firsthand what it means to lead with integrity and serve with humility, putting into practice the very character qualities that Veritas seeks to instill in every graduate.

Prefects

The word prefect comes from the Latin praefectus, meaning "the one who stands in front." Historically, prefects were trusted officials appointed to oversee specific responsibilities on behalf of a larger authority, a tradition referenced even in Scripture (Daniel 3:1-3). At Veritas, our Upper School Prefects carry on this legacy of trusted, appointed leadership, each overseeing a distinct area of school life: Spiritual Life, Worship, Social Life, Literary (Yearbook, Newspaper, and Student Publications), Historian, Alumni, Athletics, Hospitality, Property, and Technology.

Prefects are students who "stand in front" of their peers, not through position alone, but through faithful service. Whether planning chapel worship, documenting the year's events, welcoming guests, or supporting our athletic programs, Prefects gain real leadership experience while directly shaping the life and culture of the Upper School.

Mentoring

Three mornings each week, students gather for fifteen minutes before school for Mentoring, a dedicated time of connection and spiritual growth. Students are placed in small groups by gender and paired with a faculty mentor who walks alongside them for the entire school year.

This consistent, unhurried time allows meaningful relationships to form between students and teachers, creating space for encouragement, accountability, and spiritual investment that extends well beyond the classroom.
